Summary

We've redesigned the name.com API dashboard with faster domain search, a TLD-by-TLD breakdown of your portfolio, and account spending insights. This month also brings two new guides - WHOIS privacy across TLDs, and API authentication and sandbox setup.

The new reseller dashboard

New name.com API reseller dashboard Spend Overview

We've redesigned the name.com API dashboard to make it easier to find the information you need, monitor your account, and manage your domains, all in one place. Highlights include:

  • Faster domain/TLD search: Quickly find domains in your account with search-as-you-type functionality - even across high-volume accounts - and view registration dates.
  • Understand your domain portfolio: A complete breakdown by TLD to see how your domains are distributed.
  • Actionable account insights: View your current balance, daily and weekly spending averages, and low-balance notifications.
  • Easier access to resources: Quickly find frequently used guides, API documentation, and account management tools.
  • Better visibility into your business: Track registrations over time to monitor growth.
New name.com API reseller dashboard Domains Breakdown

This is just the first phase of our dashboard improvements. We're working on a dedicated reseller domain management experience with expanded search capabilities and easier access to detailed domain information.

September changelog highlights

Here are the other API updates from the last month:

  • New domain.registry.compliance_notice webhook - subscribe to send registry compliance emails to registrants yourself instead of relying on name.com's default.
  • No more wildcard email forwarding - a * in the mailbox (catch-all forwarding) is now rejected.
  • Tighter validation on updates - empty or missing-required-field updates to URL forwarding, email forwarding, vanity nameservers, and contacts are now rejected instead of quietly accepted.

New guide: WHOIS privacy across TLDs

WHOIS privacy doesn't behave the same way for every TLD. Learn how to check registry support before your UI promises protection the registry won't allow.

New guide: authentication and sandbox setup

Get your API key setup right the first time by learning how name.com's HTTP Basic Auth works, how production and sandbox credentials differ, and how to fix the 401 errors that trip up new integrations.

ICYMI: Official SDKs for TypeScript, Go, and PHP

In August we released official client SDKs for the name.com Core API in TypeScript/Node.js, Go, and PHP. They're typed clients that map directly to the API - so you get autocomplete and type checking instead of hand-rolled HTTP requests - and they use the same credentials as curl. Python is coming soon.
